Wedding detail photos are one of my favorite parts of a wedding gallery. You have spent many hours, maybe even days pouring over those small things, so I care to capture them for what they are, important. As a photographer, I’ve seen how intentional planning can elevate these shots from nice to absolutely stunning. Here’s how you can ensure your detail photos shine on your big day.
To avoid a last-minute scramble, set aside all your key details before the day begins. Here’s a list to help you organize:
Here is an additional pro-tip, place everything in a box or bag so it’s ready for your photographer. Bonus points if you label it “Details Box” to avoid confusion!
Your wedding invitation sets the tone for the day, and including it in your detail photos ties everything together. Don’t forget any special pieces like RSVP cards, menus, or wax seals. Want to know a secret tip I tell all my couples? If they are double-sided, bring two copies so the front and back can be photographed at the same time!
On your wedding day, I’ll come with a few extra elements to compliment your details like silk ribbons, lace, or other little things. If you want to ask your florist, they usually offer extra floral pieces from your arrangements to add to these photos as well.
When we put together your schedule, I’ll add in time for these photos. I like to start the day with these because it can really help me see your vision come to life and carry that throughout the day.
Don’t forget about your groom’s details. Capturing his accessories and attire balances the story and creates a cohesive gallery. Encourage him to have his items ready to go as well.
By following these tips, you’ll set the stage for detail photos that capture the essence of your day. Remember, these small elements are part of a much bigger picture—your love story. And trust me, they’ll look just as stunning in your wedding album as they did on the day itself.
